Statement on reorganisation of the CUHK Council
The Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) yesterday (12 Dec) heard a proposal presented by The Honourable Mr Tommy Cheung Yu-yan, The Honourable Mr Lau Kwok-fan and The Honourable Mr Tang Ka-piu regarding proposed amendments to the University’s Statutes on the composition and structure of the University Council.
Council members exchanged views on the proposal and agreed to establish a Taskforce to undertake further consultations and present initial findings to the University Council as soon as practicable.
The Taskforce will review the recommendations made by the 2016 proposals on the reorganisation of Council and see if they remain valid in light of the proposal made by the three Legislative Council members which will be further presented to the Education Panel of the Legislative Council at its meeting scheduled on Friday 16 December 2022.
The University thanks the three Legislative Council members for submitting their proposal and appreciates the opportunity for Council to discuss their ideas prior to being formally circulated to the Education Panel.
