CUHK Rowing Wins the Overall Championship of the Jackie Chan Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2021

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Rowing Team (CUHK Rowing) won the men’s and women’s overall championships, and the overall championship for the 20th time in the Jackie Chan Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2021. The team achieved outstanding results in individual events and swept up a total of 11 medals, including two gold, six silver, and three bronze medals.

As the largest joint-school rowing event for universities in Hong Kong, the Jackie Chan Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2021 was held in Sha Tin Shing Mun River on 14 and 15 August 2021. The eight local universities sent their most competitive teams to take part in the competition. CUHK Rowing captured 11 medals including two gold, six silver, and three bronze medals in 10 individual events and led the field as the overall champion with a total score of 161, as well as being men’s and women’s overall champions. In addition to holding the record for winning the overall championship for 17 consecutive years, winning it again this year makes it a total of 20 times for CUHK Rowing in the programme’s history.

Professor Nicholas Rawlins, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK attended the prizes presentation ceremony and congratulated the team on their excellent achievements, as well as their hard work and indomitable team spirit. Dr. Leung Fung-lin, Elean, Director of the Physical Education Unit, CUHK said, “CUHK has been actively promoting sports culture on campus and encouraging students to participate in sports. We are very proud of this wonderful success of CUHK Rowing and congratulate them again on their outstanding achievements.”
