In 1963, the College was incorporated as one of the three founding colleges of CUHK. Over the years, Chung Chi has committed to providing its students with whole person education with a broad and balanced development, promoting learning and growth through experience. The College had a very modest beginning with only 63 students in the first year. Now, it admits nearly 3,200 undergraduates annually and has brought over 28,000 graduates into the alumni community.
