Contest Results:

We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to the 2025 CUHK Photography Contest, receiving over 1,000 photo submissions from students, staff, and members of the public.

Whether it is the “CUHK: From Dawn to Dusk”—capturing the campus scenery through light and shadow, day and night, across different seasons and weather conditions—or the “Life at CUHK”—focusing on the interactions between students and faculty, academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, and the everyday moments of campus life—the submissions cover a wide range of topics and exhibit diverse styles, vividly presenting the rich and colorful face of the CUHK campus.

A heartfelt thank you to all the talented participants – and to our esteemed panel of professional judges for their dedication and expertise in evaluating each entry. We are pleased to announce the winners of the contest. In the coming months, the winning photographs and a selection of outstanding entries will be showcased on CUHK Visuals. Stay tuned!

Champion

Gate of Resilience – TING Yin Chuen

Judges’ Comments: “The judges praised this black-and-white photo for its poetic atmosphere and strong technique. Rather than capturing a sunlit campus scene, the photographer chose to frame this CUHK landmark under the rain, revealing a fresh and unique perspective. With people moving through the rain, it creates  rhythm and depth, while the monochrome style enhances the expressiveness of the photograph. A well-composed and resonant image.”

1st Runner-up

綠意中學習 – ZHANG Tiantian

Judges’ Comments: “This photo impressed the judges with its use of layers and reflections. The interplay between people indoors and the outdoor scene mirrored on the glass creates a unique composition that sparks imagination. The subtle green tone adds calmness and depth to the photo, making it very thought-provoking and full of meaning.”

2nd Runner-up

未圓 – WANG Yunqing

Judges’ Comments: “Romantic and tender, this photo captivated the judges with its emotional depth and harmonious balance. The couple seated beneath the trees forms a perfectly centered composition. The soft blur enhances the sense of intimacy, while the gentle tones create a dreamy, heartfelt atmosphere.”
