CUHK to Host Ninth CAE Academicians Lecture SeriesOpen for Online Public Registration
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will hold the ninth Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) Academicians Visit Programme and Lecture Series from 6 to 9 December 2016. Four distinguished academicians, including Prof. Ma Yuanliang of the Division of Information and Electronic Engineering, Prof. Ruan Changgeng, Prof. Cheng Jing and Prof. Xia Zhaofan of the Division of Health Engineering, will visit CUHK for academic exchange. They will deliver public lectures and meet with CUHK representatives to discuss collaboration opportunities between the two institutions.
The scholars will visit the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the Orthopaedic Learning Center, the Jockey Club Minimally Invasive Surgical Skills Centre, the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science and the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change at CUHK. On 7 December, they will give four public lectures on CUHK campus to share experience and expertise in their respective fields of research. Prof. Ma Yuanliang from the Division of Information and Electronic Engineering is currently Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University and an expert and pioneer of underwater acoustic engineering and information processing technology. Professor Ma will share his expertise on the importance of sound wave in underwater detection and information processing and its future development.
Prof. Ruan Changgeng from the Division of Health Engineering is Director of the Jiangsu Institute of Hematology and Professor at Soochow University Medical College. He has been dedicated in research on Haematology and received both national and international awards, including the honorary award from the Académie Nationale de Médecine in France. He will introduce his research in Heamotology with in-depth analysis.
Prof. Ceng Jing from the Division of Health Engineering is now Cheung Kong Professor at Medical Systems Biology Research Center, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Tsinghua University School of Medicine and Director of National Engineering Research Center for Beijing Biochip Technology. He has shown insights into biomedical research and got innovative ideas on design of biochips and biochip-based microsystem. Expertise on the development of enabling technologies for individualized diagnosis will be shared in his lecture.
Prof. Xia Zhoufan from the Division of Health Engineering is now Chief Physician of Burn Surgery at Changhai Hospital, The Second Military Medical University. As an authority on the field of ‘Burn’ in China, she mainly engages in research on post-burn rehabilitation, including inflammatory response syndrome after burns, sepsis, and burn wound repair techniques. Professor Xia has also carried out post-burn psychological rehabilitation and functional rehabilitation in China. In the lecture, she will discuss wound repair strategies and its relation with endogenous stem cells, as well as the latest development of the research area.
