CUHK sets a record and is ranked No. 1 in Hong Kong in 2023 by the U.S. News & World Report
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has risen to a record high of 53rd place, climbing 29 places from last year to be ranked No. 1 in Hong Kong in the recently released Best Global Universities Rankings 2023 by the U.S. News & World Report.
CUHK ranked in the top 50 worldwide in 11 subjects, and in the top 10 in three of them. The University achieved outstanding results in Computer Science again, ranking no. 10 worldwide and no. 1 in Hong Kong for the third consecutive year. In Gastroenterology & Hepatology, it climbed five places to third, setting a new record. In addition, in Artificial Intelligence (AI), a newly added subject this year, CUHK ranked no. 3 globally.
A CUHK spokesperson said, “CUHK has seen its performance in this ranking improve dramatically. The University has risen over 100 places over the past five years, climbing from 154th in 2017, to 82nd last year, and to 53rd today. This is an extraordinary testimony to the University’s commitment to excellence across everything we do, and is a vote of confidence in what is an increasingly competitive global environment. We would like to express our gratitude to members of the CUHK community who have been working very hard to expand our influence and enhance our reputation.”
The Best Global Universities Ranking by the U.S. News & World Report covers 47 subject rankings and evaluates nearly 2,000 universities across more than 90 countries using more than 10 performance indicators, including number of publications, total number of citations, global and regional research reputation, and international collaboration.
