CUHK hosts National Day flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held a flag-raising ceremony today (1 October) to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The event commenced at 10:30 am at the University’s flag-hoisting platform, where the CUHK’s student flag-guard team raised the national flag alongside the Hong Kong SAR flag and the CUHK flag to a rendition of the national anthem.
Professor John Chai Yat-Chiu, Chairman of the CUHK Council and Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, presided at the ceremony. CUHK is honoured to have welcomed Mr Ye Shuiqiu, Deputy Director-General, Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office, Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China in Hong Kong and Mr Tian Zhenfeng, Deputy Director-General, Consular Department, the Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong, together with about 150 guests, including Council members, staff, students, alumni and friends of the University, to attend the flag-raising ceremony.
