The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) hosted the Government Career Fair 2025 today (2 October). The event facilitated enthusiastic participation of students in exploring careers in the civil service, forging impactful connections between the University community and civil service leaders.

The fair was graced by the presence of Mrs Ingrid Yeung Ho Poi-yan, Secretary for the Civil Service of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (HKSAR); Mr Joe Chow Yat-ming, the Commissioner of Police; Professor Isabella Poon Wai-yin, CUHK’s Provost, Professor Irwin King Kuo-chin, CUHK’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education); Professor Ko Wing-hung, CUHK’s Associate Vice-President (Student Experience) and Ms Elaine Tam, Director of the Office of Student Affairs of CUHK. Mrs Yeung, a prominent leader in public service, shared her inspiring journey in the civil service and offered valuable guidance to students on navigating the civil service application process, emphasising dedication and passion in building a rewarding career in public administration. At a recruitment talk of the Police University Recruitment Express, Mr Chow shared his extensive policing experience and insights, encouraging students to consider a fulfilling career in the force.

In collaboration with the Civil Service Bureau of the Government of the HKSAR, the Career Planning and Development Centre of the Office of Student Affairs hosted the Government Career Fair featuring participation from 24 government bureaux and departments. The occasion showcased opportunities across more than 50 civil service grades open to 2026 graduates. Students actively interacted with officers from civilian, professional, and disciplined services grades at on-site booths to deepen their understanding of public service career paths and application processes. The fair also featured a series of eight career talks, each delivered by experienced government officers from departments such as the Hong Kong Police Force, the Home Affairs Department, and the Department of Justice, who shared insights into roles in public administration, policy, and community service.

CUHK remains dedicated to the integrated development of education and talents, aligning with the Government of the HKSAR’s core initiative to promote youth development and develop a talent pool. Through collaboration with the Government, the event empowered students to pursue impactful careers in public service, cultivating a dynamic pool of future contributors to Hong Kong’s governance and community development.
