CUHK Entrepreneur Day 2025 gathers innovation and technology leaders to decode the DNA of success
Organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Alumni Torch Fund, the CUHK Entrepreneur Day 2025 is being held over two days (19 and 20 September) at CUHK’s Yasumoto International Academic Park. Through a variety of activities including entrepreneurship exhibitions, thematic talks and the entrepreneurship competition, the event showcases innovative projects from CUHK alumni, professors and students, while promoting an entrepreneurial culture on campus.
The opening ceremony cum keynote dialogue took place this morning, with distinguished guests including Ms Lillian Cheong Man-lei, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong SAR (participated in video mode); Ms Anna Cheung Sze-wai, Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council; and Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK. Professor Lo and Ms Cindy Chow Lok Mei-ki, Executive Director and Chief Executive of the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, also held a keynote dialogue, “Entrepreneurship × Investment – Decoding the DNA of Success”, during which they explored the latest trends, opportunities and challenges in entrepreneurship and investment. They shared insights on transforming innovative ideas into practical achievements, equipping aspiring entrepreneurs for their future journeys.
Now in its 11th edition, the CUHK Entrepreneur Day continues to grow in scale and influence. In his welcome address, Professor Lo expressed special gratitude to the CUHK Alumni Torch Fund for its years of dedicated planning and promotion, which have allowed Entrepreneur Day to thrive and expand. He noted that CUHK’s powerful alumni network is a key driving force for innovation and technological advancement. Entrepreneur Day is an ideal platform for CUHK’s teachers, students and alumni to showcase how innovative ideas can be turned into concrete achievements, demonstrating the University’s strength and potential in innovation and technology.
I&T startups showcase CUHK’s remarkable entrepreneurial power
This year, CUHK Entrepreneur Day brings together nearly 50 entrepreneurial teams from the CUHK community, presenting cutting-edge innovations in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, biotechnology, healthcare, sustainable development, green technology, social innovation, education, cultural industries, the Internet of Things and advanced manufacturing. There is also an interactive experience zone featuring well-known CUHK-bred unicorn SenseTime.
Star-studded talks unveil the latest trends in entrepreneurship
The second day of the event will feature a number of distinguished alumni as guest speakers, who will discuss hot topics in entrepreneurship. Among them are Ms Caroline Tsang Shui-kwan, Chief Operating Officer (Hong Kong & Macau) at Sanrio Hong Kong, and Mr Hui Ha-lam, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of B.Duck Semk Holdings International Limited. They will talk about how characters based on intellectual property can continue to generate commercial value in a highly competitive market, and analyse the strengths and challenges of IP development in Hong Kong. In addition, Dr Wah Choi, Founder of WomenX Biotech – which recently developed Hong Kong’s first ever menstrual blood HPV detection sanitary pads – will share her experience of commercialising scientific research, the opportunities and challenges of moving from the laboratory to the marketplace, and the latest trends in the FemTech sector.
