Professor Chan said, “CUHK is a world-leading research institution. It is my greatest honour to serve my alma mater and to nurture the younger generations. To place students at the centre of our work and provide them with the best learning and research environment are my working principles. I believe, together, we will attain these goals.”

Professor Hector Chan graduated from CUHK with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (First Class Honours) in 1986 and a MPhil degree in Anatomy in 1988. He then pursued a DPhil in Neuroscience at The University of Oxford from 1988. He contributed to education at all levels. In the Faculty of Medicine, he had served as Assistant Dean in Education from 2004-2021. He led the preclinical teaching and revamp of the medical curriculum at 2014 by serving as Year Coordinator, Chairman of Medical Year 2 and 3 Committees, and Chairman of Preclinical Education Committee.
