The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is committed to nurturing talent by collaborating with enterprises to provide students with diverse exchange opportunities and internship experiences, expanding their career prospects. Over the past year, CUHK arranged for more than 500 CUHK students to participate in various career development programmes in Shanghai to gain practical experience. To further promote talent development between Hong Kong and Shanghai, CUHK recently organised “The Thanksgiving Reception for Internship Partners” and “The Launch Ceremony of the Hong Kong Students Experiential Learning Programme 2025” in Shanghai, showcasing the University’s efforts in nurturing talent.

Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, officiated at “The Thanksgiving Reception for Internship Partners” and said: “Shanghai and Hong Kong share profound connections in talent development and industrial collaboration. Our partnership not only marks a significant milestone in nurturing talent but also contributes to the talent exchange between the two cities. Our dedicated partners have provided invaluable opportunities for our students over the years in internship placements, career planning and professional growth. Their immense support and guidance empower students to pursue and excel in their careers through learning and practice.”

Professor Lo expressed gratitude to the enterprises and institutions for their support, presenting certificates of appreciation to partners, including the Shanghai Municipal Talent Work Bureau, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai, the People’s Government of Yangpu District, Shanghai, the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, Seeding’s Culture Youth Exchange Centre, The Shanghai Orient Nexus Group Asia-Pacific Talent Exchange and Development Center and others.

On the same morning, “The Launch Ceremony of the Hong Kong Students Experiential Learning Programme 2025” was held at Pudong International Talent Hub, kicking off the programme. Professor Isabella Poon Wai-yin, Provost of CUHK, was one of the officiating guests and said: “Shanghai is a dynamic international metropolis with opportunities that attract outstanding talents from around the world. This experiential learning programme not only allows our students to gain in-depth insights into the city’s innovative industries and development landscape but also provides them with a valuable opportunity to experience the professional environment first-hand and connect with industry leaders.”

This initiative offers CUHK students a chance to have in-person visits at enterprises, gaining practical experience to lay a solid foundation for their future careers. This event also marked the beginning of a six-day enterprise visit and career exploration in Shanghai for CUHK new graduates and students from 25 to 30 May 2025, during which they immerse themselves in Shanghai’s corporate environment, experiencing workplace culture and acquiring industry knowledge to help them excel in future careers.
