Event Details:

Fashion is a multi-billion-dollar global business. Many of us love clothes, jewellery, watches, bags and shoes. The fashion system thrives on novelty, seduction, ephemerality and hedonism. There are countless books on intellectual property (IP) law, numerous books on fashion theory and a few books on fashion law but hardly any on fashion and intellectual property. This book – Fashion and Intellectual Property – assembles some of the best-known IP scholars around the world to present their analysis of how different aspects of intellectual property laws interact with and regulate the fashion industry.

It covers key features of intellectual property rights regimes in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Asia that include copyright, trademarks, patents and geographical indications. This collection is curated and edited by David Tan (NUS), Jeanne Fromer (NYU) and Dev Gangjee (Oxford), featuring contributions from the editors and other scholars such as Barton Beebe, Christopher Sprigman, Robert Burrell, Emily Hudson and Martin Senftleben. The book is available in hardback edition and also as open access on Cambridge Core.

Join book editor Professor David Tan, chapter authors Professor Jyh-An Lee and Dr. Jingwen Liu, and commentator Associate Professor Tianxiang He and Dr. Haifeng Huang, at the book launch!

This book talk is jointly co-organised by CLINDS Intellectual Property Law and NUS EW Barker Centre for Law & Business.
