An anthropologist and Anglican priest, I taught anthropology and latterly theology at universities in Australia, Germany and UK, and done long-term research in rural Sabah, Malaysia, among Christians, local tradition and Muslims, and in South Australia among Lutherans of German origin. Since 2005 I have been researching husband-wife violence among Christians in eighteen countries on five continents, being especially interested what, if anything, seminaries, preachers, pastoral carers, and local congregations say, teach, and do.
