The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has, for the second consecutive year, supported the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) to hold the ‘i-Run–Hong Kong Jockey Club Special Marathon’, encouraging people with intellectual disabilities to participate in sports and to promote social inclusion. This year’s event was held at the Sir Philip Haddon Cave Sports Field and Campus Circuit East of CUHK on 8 January. About 1,700 athletes with disabilities and pair-up runners from Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong Province and Taiwan participated in either the 3-km Race or 5-km Challenge Race of the special marathon.

Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, Vice-Chancellor, CUHK; Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chief Executive Officer, The Hong Kong Jockey Club; Mr. Douglas So, Executive Director, Charities, The Hong Kong Jocky Club; Mr. Charles Chang, Chairman, TWGHs; Hong Kong outstanding athlete So Wa-wai; and Ambassador Wong Cho-lam officiated at the event. Professor Sung and about 30 CUHK students also participated as pair-up runners to show their support to the disabled.
