Speaker’s Biography:
Dr. Cho Man-kit, Joseph (Siu Cho) received his doctoral degree in Gender Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests span feminist theories, gender and queer theory and politics. He is also interested in restorative justice and non-violent communication. He is currently Lecturer of the Gender Studies Programme at his alma mater and the Executive Co-Director of Nu Tong Xue She. He is also the Co-Founder of From Trauma to Transformation which aims at healing emotional trauma through listening and compassionate communication.

Speaker’s Biography:
Dr. Lau Po-hei is currently Lecturer of General Education Foundation Programme of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, teaching the course “In Dialogue with Humanity”. He was the host of the TV programme Philosophy Night broadcasted by Radio Television Hong Kong.

Enhancing Your Competitiveness during COVID-19

Speakers’ Biography:
Diane Chiu is a veteran practitioner in marketing strategy and promotion. She has served numerous local and international companies such as Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), Swire Group, Jardines, McDonald’s and HSBC. In 2009, she was awarded the “CIM Marketer of the Year” in the HKMA/TVB Awards for Marketing Excellence. Throughout her career, she has assumed more than 20 positions in different sectors and has interviewed countless candidates. She devotes most of her leisure time to volunteer services like hosting sharing sessions at universities. She has also been serving as programme advisor and student mentor at universities for 10 years.

Eva Chow is the Senior Regional Legal Counsel at Prudential Corporation Asia. After receiving her bachelor degree in Law in Canada, she joined a large legal firm in Hong Kong as a solicitor and then HSBC to offer advice on legal issues associated with investment funds. She then entered the insurance sector as the head of the legal department at AXA and Prudential Corporation. She is familiar with the local and western workplace culture and is experienced in job hunting and interviewing.

Upon receipt of her bachelor degree in History, Angela Chiu entered the audit field aiming for a promising career but later found that it was not what she looked for. She then joined the advertising industry and served at Ogilvy & Mather and McCann Worldgroup where she was seconded to New York for a year and gained a rewarding experience. In 2009, she switched her career from advertising to in-house marketing at not only Johnson & Johnson but also the medical device company at which she even needed to visit an operation theatre. She then turned her fairway to retail fashion responsible for e-commerce, but re-entered the marketing scene by working at the Hong Kong Disneyland. The various positions held have brought to her ample mainland and overseas experience. She is now focusing on serving the high end customers in the bank marketing sector. Every time she changes her career field she is able to market herself successfully.

Travel and COVID-19

Speaker’s Biography:
Dr. Wong Kim-fan received his bachelor degree and doctoral degree in Translation at Hong Kong Baptist University. His research interests span translation, travel and philosophy. He teaches general education and translation programmes in various tertiary education institutions in Hong Kong. He is the Co-Founder of Civil Wayfarers which promotes ethical travel through education, and encourages tourists to respect, support and learn about the places they visit.

Speaker’s Biography:
Dr. Damian Cheng is currently Lecturer of General Education Foundation Programme of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, teaching the course “In Dialogue with Humanity”. He received his bachelor degree in Philosophy (and minored in Sociology) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1997. He then obtained his doctoral degree in Cultural Studies. He likes making jokes and chatting with people of all ages, particularly the youngsters.

Our Elderly Family Members

Speaker : Dr. Derrick Au

Speaker’s Biography:
Dr. Derrick Au is currently Director of CUHK Centre for Bioethics and specialist in gerontology and rehabilitation and former health services manager. His past positions include Hospital Chief Executive of Kowloon Hospital, Director (Quality and Safety) of Hospital Authority, etc. Dr. Au has been writing columns and publishing books on humanities in the pen name of “Au Man-hoi” for years. His recent publications include, inter alia, 《醫院筆記:時代與人》(2016), 《有詩的時候》(2017),《生命倫理的四季大廈》(2019).

Remarks:
• All activities will be opened to CUHK students and staff only.
• All activities will be conducted in Cantonese.
• All activities will be conducted online via Zoom.
• Successful applicants will receive notification email, which includes the admission URL, one to two days before the event day.
• Registration is made on a first-come-first-served basis.
