In celebration of the 70th Anniversary of New Asia College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the College is pleased to co-organise with New Asia Middle School and New Asia Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies “Together We March Forward: New Asia 70 Year – An Exhibition”, providing a look into the past and present New Asia College. Members of the public are welcome to visit and discover the stories of New Asia College in the Farm Road period. An appointment is required and admission is free.

The venue itself, New Middle School, was the school premises of New Asia College from 1956 to 1973 and has now become the collective memory of a generation of New Asia alumni. The exhibition is divided into 3 sections, namely “Campus Self-guided Tour”, “College’s Development over the Past Decade” and “Together We March Forward”. Of these, the “Campus Self-guided Tour” enables visitors to learn more about the background and significance of historic sites and points of interest on campus from a self-guided tour assisted by an online Story Map.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held recently. It was officiated at by Mr. Leung Ying-wai Charles, Honorary Fellow of CUHK and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of New Asia College, CUHK, Professor Wong Nai-ching Henry, College Head of New Asia College, Mr. Lau Chi-fai, Honorary Manager of The Incorporated Management Committee of New Asia Middle School, Professor Liu Chu-hua, Director of New Asia Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies, Ms. Leung Shuk-ching, Principal of New Asia Middle School, Mr. Chang Kwun-hung, Chairperson of the Staff Association of New Asia College, Mr. Yiu Chun-hong Anthony, Chairman of the Alumni Association of New Asia College, Dr. Andrew Junker, Hong Kong Director of the Yale-China Association, and Professor Lai Ming-chiu, Chairman of the Department of History, CUHK and curator of the exhibition. The opening ceremony was followed by a campus tour led by New Asia Young Scholars, in which guests visited the library, lecture theatre and the pavilion to understand more about students’ and teachers’ lives in the old days.

*Special arrangements on 30 November (Saturday) and 7 December (Saturday): appointments are not required for visits, with guided tours (about 45 minutes per session) available. Please refer to the college website for details.
