Sports offers some of world’s leading business verticals, and aside from professional competitions and merchandise, the fitness club industry is massively booming in the age of looking and feeling good. Wellness, exercise and health research have been popular concepts since the 1960s, especially in western societies. Among the significant components in the wellness industry, the physical fitness club segment has become popular and commercialized for enhancing human health and personal outlook, improving self-concept, and creating body capital. Prof. Patrick Lau, Professor, Department of Physical Education, Hong Kong Baptist University will introduce the development of physical fitness clubs in commercial world and finish off by offering facts and fallacies about weight management. Through this sharing, the audience will have a clearer understanding of the modern sports industry as a business.
