活動概覽:

In November-December 2015, delegates from almost 200 countries met in Paris and reached broad agreements on tackling climate change caused by human-induced carbon emissions. This 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) has been conducted under the aegis of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Paris Agreement makes a commitment to limit the greenhouse gases emitted by human activity, with the goal of keeping global warming below the 2 deg C level. The accord also initiates a process for periodically reviewing the contributions of individual countries towards the curtailment of carbon emissions, and establishes a fund for aiding less developed countries to adapt to climate change and make transition to non-carbon energy resources. The COP21 has far-reaching effects on economic/energy policy, environmental quality and personal lifestyle of human societies throughout the globe. Some of these implications will be considered from various perspectives at this seminar. There will be an extended discussion involving audience after the talks.
