講座摘要:

Since the publication of Social Connections in China: Institutions, Culture, and the Changing Nature of Guanxi (ed. Gold, Guthrie and Wank) in 2002, a distinct “field of guanxi studies” has emerged. Scholars of many disciplines as well as consultants and journalists, have conducted empirical research on the practice of guanxi across many realms of social life, while still debating what exactly it is and whether or not it is unique to China. In early March 2015, scholars from the U.S., China, Asia and Europe met at Berkeley to share their latest research results and theoretical musings on the field of guanxi studies today. This presentation introduces the conference topics, recurring themes and tentative conclusions concerning guanxi and the study of guanxi.
