活動概覽:

Did you know Islam is the world’s second largest religion? Did you know nearly two hundred thousand Muslim people are living in Hong Kong? Do you know the difference between Islam and Muslims? Do you know why Muslims eat halal food? Not really but interested to know more? You will find all the answers and can even discover a lot more at the Islamic Cultural Festival co-hosted by the Office of Student Affairs and the Centre for the Study of Islamic Culture, which aims to introduce Islamic culture and showcase the religion’s dynamics and diversity.

Opening Ceremony
As the kick-off event of the Festival, the ceremony will be lined up with folk performances, such as singing and Muslim martial arts. It will be an exciting head start to your exploration of the Islamic world.

The booths will allow you to experience Islam in one go – art work, Arabic calligraphy, halal food, costume fitting, interaction with Muslim scholars and students from all over the world, etc. Please remember to drop by!

Talk (I): Islam is not ISIS
Sad but true, to many people, Islam is a synonym for violence and terrorism. But in fact, the word Islam is derived from an Arabic word which means peace. In this talk, our speaker will give you a real picture of Islam and tell you the huge difference between Islam and the Islamic State.

Ebru Painting Workshop
Ebru (Water marbling) is a traditional Turkish art which creates colourful patterns by sprinkling and brushing colour pigments onto a pan of oily water and then transfers the patterns to paper. The art even plays an important role in the Islamic world. Here comes a chance for you to try your hand at it. A Turkish Muslim student will also share his culture at the workshop!

Tour of Mosques in Hong Kong
Starting from the Jamia Mosque in Central, the oldest mosque in town, to the Masjid Ammar, an Islamic community in Wan Chai, the tour will lead you to experience the history of Islam and the everyday life of the Muslims in Hong Kong. Also good news for foodies, if you like, you can get a taste of the halal ‘dim sum’ exclusively in the Masjid Ammar (at participants’ own expense)!

Documentary Screening: Inside Islam
As the world’s second largest religion, Islam is practised by more than a billion people. The documentary will give an objective introduction to the religion and you will discover what the Qur’an actually says about war, violence and suicide. Together with the documentary, the after-show discussion led by a PhD Muslim student from Russia will enable you to go further inside the religion and understand its multicultural and diverse representations.

全球200多個國家,穆斯林人口接近16億,占世界人口23%。其中逾六成穆斯林分佈在亞洲,僅有約兩成在中東和北非。具體來看,穆斯林國家和阿拉伯國家有什麼區別?穆斯林國家與伊斯蘭國家是同一概念嗎?你明白遜尼派和什葉派各自的含義嗎?當我們行走在這些國家時需要注意些什麼?我們的演講將一一為你解答,並帶你走進絲路沿線穆斯林國家,觸碰亞洲腹地穆斯林世界的靈魂。

Talk (III): Understanding the Rights and Status of Muslim Women through Hijab
A hijab is a veil traditionally worn by Muslim women to cover their heads. To many, it is a symbol of Muslim women’s clothing. But to Muslim women, it means more than that – it even speaks for their rights and status. Attend this talk to discover more! A hijab wearing demonstration will be a plus.

Talk (IV): 伊斯蘭教法及其特點 Islamic Law and its Characteristics
伊斯蘭教法(沙裡亞法,Sharia Law),是以伊斯蘭教義為準則的法律體系。伊斯蘭教法是根據《古蘭經》和可靠聖訓的相關內容,對人民日常生活和行為作出的法律規定。伊斯蘭法不只是大家記憶中的石擊、鞭刑,它作為一套完善的法律體系,深刻影響著穆斯林的生活。伊斯蘭教法在歷史上的伊斯蘭帝國中扮演了怎樣的角色?現如今有多少國家仍在全部或部分執行伊斯蘭法?伊斯蘭法對生活在世俗國家的穆斯林起到怎樣的作用?這些問題的答案在這個講解中將被揭開。
