A telephone survey was conducted from 19 to 26 June 2018 by the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong to study the popularity of the HKSAR Government.\u00a0 712 respondents aged 18 or above were successfully interviewed, with a response rate of 38.9%.\u00a0 The sampling error is estimated at plus or minus 3.67 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
Major findings are summarized as follows:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n Satisfaction <\/strong>with<\/strong> the HKSAR Government.<\/strong>\u00a0 According to the current survey, 32.6% of the 712 respondents expressed satisfaction towards the HKSAR Government, 30.1% said they were dissatisfied, and 36.1% answered \u2018in-between\u2019.\u00a0 The corresponding figures for May 2018 were 33.1%, 29.4%, and 36.1%, respectively.\u00a0 Statistical analysis shows that the results for June 2018 were not significantly different from those of May. \u00a0When comparing the figures with the same month last year (i.e. June 2017), it is found that the percentage of satisfaction in June 2018 (32.6%) was much higher than that of June 2017 (24.4%) and the difference in percentage distribution between June 2018 and June 2017 was also found to be statistically significant.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n Rating of Chief Executive Carrie Lam.<\/strong>\u00a0 The current survey showed that the performance rating of the Chief Executive Carrie Lam (with a point scale ranging from 0 to 100 with 50 as the passing mark) stood at 55.5 on average, whereas the rating for May was 57.0. \u00a0However, the difference was not statistically significant.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n Ratings of Three Secretaries. <\/strong>The ratings of Chief Secretary for Administration (Matthew Cheung), Financial Secretary (Paul Chan) and Secretary for Justice (Teresa Cheng) in June 2018 were 51.0, 41.6 and 41.5 respectively.\u00a0 The corresponding figures for May were 51.9, 42.1 and 42.2.\u00a0 Compared to their ratings between June 2018 and May 2018 respectively, the three secretaries did not show statistically significant differences in their ratings between two months.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n Trust in the HKSAR Government.\u00a0 <\/strong>As of June 2018, 34.0% of the respondents showed trust in the HKSAR Government and 22.9% expressed distrust; 40.9% answered \u2018in-between\u2019.\u00a0 The results for May 2018 were 34.0%, 21.3%, and 42.0%, respectively. \u00a0There was no statistically significant difference in trust in the HKSAR Government between June 2018 and May 2018.\u00a0 However, when comparing the figures with those of June 2017, it is showed that the percentage of trust in the HKSAR Government in June 2018 (34.0%) was higher than that of June 2017 (28.0%). \u00a0Statistically significant differences were also found between these two months.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Trust in the Central Government.\u00a0 <\/strong>Regarding the level of trust in the Central Government in June 2018, 21.9% said they trusted it, 41.0% answered the opposite, and 31.9% said \u2018in-between\u2019.\u00a0 The respective figures from May were 23.0%, 40.1%, and 29.7%, respectively. \u00a0Statistically significant differences were not found between May 2018 and June 2018.\u00a0 Also, the differences between June 2018 (Trust: 21.9%; Distrust: 41.0%) and June 2017 (Trust: 25.0%; Distrust: 35.9%) were not found to be statistically significant.\u00a0<\/p>","show_as_achievement":false,"achievement_category":[],"show_as_clarification":false,"show_as_announcement":false,"photos":null,"attachments":null,"video_source":"","video_file":"","add_play_button":false,"video_caption":"","show_migration":false,"original_id":"2801","photos_original":null,"attachments_original":[{"link":"5b35d9ed19f5c.pdf","text":"Attachment (Chinese version only)"}]},"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":{"enabledWorkflows":[]},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cpr.cuhk.edu.hk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/press\/49772","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cpr.cuhk.edu.hk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/press"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cpr.cuhk.edu.hk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/press"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.cpr.cuhk.edu.hk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/press\/49772\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":114905,"href":"https:\/\/www.cpr.cuhk.edu.hk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/press\/49772\/revisions\/114905"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cpr.cuhk.edu.hk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=49772"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cpr.cuhk.edu.hk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=49772"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
