Professor Rocky S. Tuan<\/strong>, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), led a delegation to Beijing and Shanghai from 4 to 10 September. Other members of the CUHK delegation included Provost Professor Alan K.L. Chan<\/strong>, Pro-Vice-Chancellors Professor Poon Wai-yin<\/strong> and Professor Chan Wai-yee<\/strong>, faculty deans and senior administrators. Apart from meeting with the Ministry of Education, the delegation visited 10 academic and business partners to implement multiple collaborative projects. They also witnessed the admission of CUHK knowledge transfer projects to the CUHK Shanghai Centre, and gathered with over 200 alumni in Beijing and Shanghai, achieving fruitful outcomes.<\/p>\r\n

In Beijing, the delegation held a conference with leaders from the Ministry of Education, reporting on CUHK\u2019s strategies to align with the national education development plan: utilising its strengths in research and education, CUHK strives to support Hong Kong\u2019s development into an international hub for innovation, technology and post-secondary education.<\/p>\r\n

The delegation visited six partners in Beijing \u2013 the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Beijing Talent Work Bureau \u2013 promoting comprehensive, sustained collaborations with mainland partners and deepening international academic exchanges. Professor Tuan also attended the World Philanthropy Forum jointly organised by CUHK and Tsinghua University, where he delivered the opening speech.<\/p>\r\n

In Shanghai, the delegation celebrated the first anniversary of the CUHK Shanghai Centre by launching \u201cCUHK \u2013 Yangpu Week\u201d. The Shanghai Centre is a key initiative for CUHK\u2019s development on the mainland. Over the past year, it has leveraged the resources of both Shanghai and Hong Kong to promote scientific and innovative collaborations, academic exchanges and professional talent cultivation. The University also announced that the Shanghai base of CUHK InnoPort (Innoport@Shanghai) has admitted its first five knowledge transfer projects, led by CUHK professors, and CUHK Office of Admissions and Financial Aid has established a representative office at the Shanghai Centre, providing updated information for students interested in applying to CUHK.<\/p>\r\n

CUHK has launched three collaborative projects with Shanghai\u2019s Yangpu District: internships for Hong Kong students, a landmark design competition, and preparation seminars for listing digital economy enterprises and expanding the new economy. The University signed multiple cooperation agreements with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, including academic exchanges and a dual-degree programme in Financial Technology and Finance, providing increased opportunities for collaborations between the two universities.
