Four scholars from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) received awards from the 2024-25 Research Grants Council (RGC) Senior Research Fellow Scheme and RGC Research Fellow Scheme in recognition of their distinguished research achievements.<\/p>\r\n
CUHK\u2019s Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sham Mai-har congratulated the four professors on receiving the RGC awards. \u201cI am proud to see their outstanding research being recognised and sincerely wish them further research success, leveraging the funds to make valuable contributions to society,\u201d Professor Sham remarked.<\/p>\r\n
Two CUHK scholars were named in the RGC Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS). They are Professor Michael Lyu Rung-tsong, Choh-ming Li Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, and Professor Zhao Ni, Professor, Department of Electronic Engineering. Professor Lyu\u2019s research project is \u201cEvaluation, Exploration, and Application of Large Language Models on Code Intelligence\u201d, while Professor Zhao\u2019s is \u201cDevelopment of Optical Sensing Technologies for Early Detection and Ambulatory Monitoring of Cardiovascular and Cerebral Diseases\u201d. Each SRFS awardee will be given the title \u201cRGC Senior Research Fellow\u201d and CUHK will receive a fellowship grant of about HK$8 million per award to cover salary costs for relief teachers and support for research projects over a period of 60 months.<\/p>\r\n
Professor Yu Bei, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Professor Lu Xinhui, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, were named in the RGC Research Fellow Scheme (RFS). Professor Yu\u2019s research project is \u201cMachine Learning Driven VLSI Mask Optimisation\u201d, and Professor Lu\u2019s is \u201cExploring the Critical Amorphous and Crystalline Morphology of Organic Optoelectronic Thin Films by Neutron and X-ray Scattering\u201d.
