The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI) and Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for strategic cooperation on 6 March 2024. The MOU aims to strengthen international exchange and cooperation between the two institutions in science, technology and innovation (ST&I), contributing to the scientific and technological advancements of both China and Hungary.<\/p>\r\n
Professor Yam Yeung<\/strong>, Director of CUHK SZRI, signed the MOU with Dr P\u00e9ter Feh\u00e9r<\/strong>, Vice President for International Relations at CUB, and the collaborative agreement with Professor Andrea K\u0151<\/strong>, Head of the Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems at CUB, and Professor P\u00e9ter Baranyi<\/strong>, Head of the Cognitive Infocommunications Research Center at CUB. According to the MOU, CUHK SZRI and CUB will establish a joint research, knowledge and technology transfer platform in multiple disciplines. The two institutions will also organise a range of activities, including academic forums, to explore the wide application of research results and technologies, as well as nurturing all-round talents with international perspectives.<\/p>\r\n Professor Chan Wai-yee<\/strong>, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Developments) of CUHK, congratulated both CUHK SZRI and CUB on establishing the cooperation and exchange. He said that for the six decades of its history, CUHK has promoted international collaborations with a global vision of bridging China and the West. This MOU will serve as the catalyst to foster a closer partnership between CUHK and CUB in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, pushing the boundaries of technological advancement and ushering in a future teeming with innovation and boundless possibilities.<\/p>\r\n Professor Yam Yeung<\/strong>, Director of CUHK SZRI, highlighted that CUB, carrying on a tradition spanning over a century, stands as a beacon of academic excellence in Hungary. The MOU will establish a partnership between the two institutions in joint research projects, talent development and technology transfer activities. The collaboration will also support the Belt and Road Initiative by strengthening China-Hungary technological and cultural exchange, in line with the national strategies of both countries.<\/p>\r\n Mr El\u0151d Tasn\u00e1dy<\/strong>, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Hungary in Guangzhou, stated that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. Hungary was the first country in the European Union to sign a Belt and Road intergovernmental cooperation document with China.
