Five scholars from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) received awards under the 2022-23 Research Grants Council (RGC) Senior Research Fellow Scheme and RGC Research Fellow Scheme in recognition of their distinguished research achievements.<\/p>\r\n
CUHK\u2019s Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sham Mai-har<\/strong> said, \u201cI am proud of the outstanding research achievements of the five professors. I would like to congratulate them in receiving the RGC awards in recognition of their research work, and wish them continued success in their research endeavours.\u201d<\/p>\r\n Three CUHK scholars were named in the RGC Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS). They are Professor Bryan Mercurio<\/strong>, Faculty of Law, Professor Liu Renbao<\/strong>, Department of Physics, and Professor Raymond Yeung Wai-ho<\/strong>, Department of Information Engineering. Professor Bryan Mercurio\u2019s research project is \u201cAccess to vaccines in a post-COVID-19 world: Sustainable legal and policy options\u201d, Professor Liu Renbao\u2019s is \u201cQuantum nonlinear spectroscopy \u2013 A new paradigm of quantum sensing\u201d, and Professor Raymond Yeung\u2019s is \u201cResearch and development of network coding technologies\u201d. Each SRFS awardee will be given the title \u201cRGC Senior Research Fellow\u201d and CUHK will receive a fellowship grant of about HK$7.8 million per award to cover salary costs for relief teachers and support for research projects over a period of five years.<\/p>\r\n Professor Kathy Lui Oi-lan<\/strong>, Department of Chemical Pathology, and Professor Lu Yi-chun<\/strong>, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, were named in the RGC Research Fellow Scheme (RFS). The research project of Professor Kathy Lui is \u201cMolecular mechanisms underlying T-cell regulation of vascular disease, repair and regeneration\u201d, and that of Professor Lu Yi-chun is \u201cPolysulfide-based aqueous redox flow batteries with high stability and high-power density for low-cost and long-duration energy storage\u201d.
