CU Medicine’s Graduate Entry Track admits only graduates with first-class honours from the world’s top universities
In March 2025, CU Medicine announced the launch of the GET medical programme, which starts in the 2025/26 academic year. With an intake of 25 students, the GET offers a pioneering medical training opportunity for university graduates aspiring to pursue a career in medicine. After a stringent selection process, all students admitted will hold first-class honours degrees in related disciplines such as biomedical sciences or other scientific fields, demonstrating stellar academic performance and a passion for medicine. Over 70% are graduates from world-leading universities overseas, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, the University of California, the University of Toronto and the University of Sydney. The remaining students are graduates of local universities with rankings that are high by global standards, with approximately 70% of them graduates of CUHK.
In addition, CU Medicine has also admitted a number of outstanding IB candidates, including 30 who achieved top marks.
Professor Philip Chiu Wai-yan, Dean of CU Medicine, remarked: “High-achieving students of this generation often consider more than just academic rankings when choosing a school. They take a holistic approach, carefully assessing factors like campus culture, international opportunities, teaching philosophy and the overall learning environment. We are delighted with the impressive admission outcome this year. Through multiple pathways, we have attracted students with outstanding academic achievements and a genuine passion for medicine, from diverse backgrounds. This is a powerful testament to the broad recognition for CU Medicine’s supportive learning environment, teaching philosophy and high quality.”
CU Medicine remains steadfast in its commitment to “transforming our passion into perfection” and is dedicated to nurturing healthcare leaders equipped with the global vision and innovative capabilities essential for the 21st century. This mission aligns seamlessly with the government’s strategic focus on nurturing talent in innovation and technology, and positioning Hong Kong as an international health and medical innovation hub. CUHK values holistic education dearly and its distinctive college system empowers students to pursue academic excellence, develop their character and enhance their interpersonal skills in an all-round manner. This year, the University is planning to launch a new experiential learning programme, CU Medicine+, enriching students’ life experience via humanitarian service, research and clinical attachments, as well as giving them more international exposure.
CU Medicine’s curriculum is designed with flexibility, allowing students to take part in overseas clinical placements, medical and scientific research, humanitarian service and cultural exploration at times that best suit their interests and aspirations, in order to broaden their horizons and enrich their exposure across multiple disciplines. The University upholds a promise to every student – “you dare to dream; we dare to help you achieve it”. It aspires to nurture every doctor of tomorrow by aiming to excel in all endeavours while remaining ethical and empathetic doctors who keep up with the times. We look forward to seeing you all in CU Medicine!”
