CUHK wins 17 awards at the National and International University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions
Best result among Hong Kong institutions
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) achieved outstanding results at the “National and International University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions 2025 Award Ceremony”, winning 17 awards, the most among universities in Hong Kong. They include five gold, two silver and one bronze awards in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2025; one special prize, one first prize and one third prize in the 19th “Challenge Cup” National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition; one excellence award in the 11th National Youth Science Popularization Innovation Experiment and Works Contest; one gold medal and one Future Technology Excellence Award at WorldInvent 2025 Singapore (WoSG); one silver medal at Indonesia Inventors Day 2025 (IID 2025); and one gold medal at the Seoul International Invention Fair 2025 (SIIF 2025) in South Korea. Moreover, CUHK also won the Champion Trophy in the 19th “Challenge Cup” for National College Student Extracurricular Academic and Technology Works Competition.
Professor Allen Chan Kwan-chee, CUHK’s Associate Vice-President (Knowledge Transfer), said: “The CUHK teams have consistently achieved outstanding results from national innovation competitions to international invention exhibitions, with award-winning projects spanning cutting-edge fields including AI, biomedical science, advanced manufacturing, and green materials. These teams have successfully translated research outputs into innovative solutions that address global challenges such as cancer treatment and the energy crisis, fully demonstrating CUHK’s commitment to advancing research innovation and knowledge transfer. CUHK will continue to foster a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and nurture more innovation and technology talent with a global vision.”
The “National and International University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions 2025” are organised by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association. Each year, the Association leads teams from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to participate in the National finals of the “Challenge Cup” for National College Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, held in odd-numbered years; the “Challenge Cup” for China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition, held in even-numbered years; the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition It also organizes and leads Hong Kong teams to participate in the Worldinvent Singapore (WoSG), the Indonesian Inventors’ Day (IID), and the Seoul International Invention Exhibition (SIIF). These competitions cultivate many outstanding talents in innovation and entrepreneurship for Hong Kong. They also help to showcase Hong Kong university students’ achievements in innovation and technology to the world.
