CUHK holds flag-raising ceremony on New Year’s Day.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) hosted a flag-raising ceremony today (1 January) to celebrate the beginning of 2026.

The event commenced at 10:30 am at the University’s flag-hoisting platform, where the CUHK student flag-guard team raised the National flag of the People’s Republic of China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flag and the CUHK flag to a rendition of the national anthem.

Professor John Chai Yat-Chiu, Chairman of the CUHK Council and Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, attended the ceremony along with about 80 guests, including Council members, senior management, staff, students and alumni.
