A total of 79 students from CUHK have been awarded the Link University Scholarship 2025/26, in recognition of their sustained excellence in academic achievement and community service.

A total of 79 students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been awarded the Link University Scholarship 2025/26. Among them, three students have received the scholarship for four consecutive years, earning the title of “All-time Scholars” in recognition of their sustained excellence in academic achievement and community service. This year, the scholarship programme received over 1,500 applications, with 220 undergraduates from 12 local universities selected.

Professor Ko Wing-hung, CUHK Associate Vice-President (Student Experience) and University Dean of Students, said that over the years, Link Asset Management Ltd (Link) has long been dedicated to nurturing and recognising outstanding students who excel academically while demonstrating a strong commitment to serving society. He added that the awardees are not only diligent in their pursuit of knowledge, but also actively engage with their communities and global issues, striving to bring about positive impact. Professor Ko noted that CUHK students have delivered an outstanding performance this year, showcasing sustained excellence and dedication. Professor Ko expressed that he is immensely proud of their achievements, and firmly believes that this recognition will inspire them to continue to shine, contributing to Hong Kong and the world.

One of the awardees is Venus Yeung Yee-fei, a third-year student in the Medicine (MBChB) programme at CUHK’s Faculty of Medicine. Over the years, Venus has been involved in international medical voluntary work, visiting five different regions. Her contributions included organising thalassemia health camps in Guangxi, as well as promoting water hygiene, first aid, and education on non-communicable diseases in Nepal, Indonesia and Vanuatu. Over the past year and a half, she served as Vice-Chairperson of “Medical Outreachers”, led by medical students from CUHK and The University of Hong Kong, guiding fellow medical students to conduct outreach services beyond Hong Kong.

Venus said: “This scholarship is a powerful motivator, reminding me of my responsibility as a university student means looking beyond textbooks to see the world as my classroom. I am incredibly grateful for Link’s  support—it empowers me to live out the spirit of the Chinese proverb: to read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles, which is to acquire knowledge through study and wisdom through travel. I plan to use the funding to support my next overseas volunteer journey, contributing to humanitarian aid and environmental conservation. I hope to bring these experiences back to Hong Kong, encouraging young people to look beyond borders, cultivate empathy, promote Hong Kong culture abroad and facilitate cultural exchange through volunteerism – ultimately going farther, seeing more broadly, giving back with gratitude and influencing lives with lives.”

Another awardee is Pang Kui-laam, a second-year student in the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Science and Earth Informatics & Earth and Environmental Sciences Double Major programme. He previously served as student coordinator for a community outreach programme, leading a team of volunteers and designing interactive workshops and group games to help young ethnic minority people learn basic Cantonese and local cultural customs, facilitating their integration into the community. During the project, he took on team management responsibilities, coordinated resources and handled unforeseen challenges.

Pang said: “I feel deeply honoured to receive this award. As the first in my family to attend university, this scholarship means far more to me than financial support. It is a profound affirmation that recognises my efforts to overcome barriers and strive upward. This assistance allows me to focus fully on my studies without worry and gives me greater courage to pursue my dreams. My experiences in social service have taught me invaluable skills beyond the classroom, such as crisis management, teamwork and empathy. These experiences not only bring positive change to others but also enrich my university life and help me grow into someone better equipped to contribute to society.”
