A total of 11 outstanding students from the Food and Nutritional Sciences programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been awarded the 2025/26 Nissin Foods Scholarship by the Nissin Foods (Hong Kong) Charity Fund (Charity Fund), recognising their academic excellence and aspirations to advance the field. They include both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Professor Tsang Suk-ying, the programme’s Director, said: “We sincerely thank the Charity Fund for providing scholarships to students in the Food and Nutritional Sciences programme. This not only affirms their academic potential but also offers crucial support for them to pursue their professional dreams and enhance their practical skills. This year’s awardees have shown exceptional potential and creativity. I am proud of their accomplishments and look forward to their continued commitment to excellence in their future academic and career endeavours, contributing to the ongoing advancement of the food industry, nutrition and society.”

The four new awardees for the 2025-26 academic year are Ling Ching and Lo Ka-Yin from Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences programme, and Wu Tao and Zhuang Jingru from the PhD programme. The seven students to have had their rewards renewed are Lam Tsz-hang, Shum Wai-hang, Leung Hau Man, Lo Chun-hei and Wong Siu-yu from the undergraduate programme, and Zhou Zhengming and Zhou Dandan from the PhD programme.

One of them, Lo Chun-hei, said: “Receiving this scholarship has profoundly impacted each of us. This generous support from the Charity Fund allows us to dedicate ourselves fully to our studies. For instance, I have a keen interest in the relationship between regular vitamin B complex supplement intake and sleep quality, and I hope to take this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of this topic. Since sleep is a fundamental physiological necessity for humans, my study seeks to translate scientific findings into practical applications that promote public health. In doing so, it brings us closer to achieving our educational and professional aspirations. We promise to honour this generosity by pursuing academic excellence with integrity and giving back to our community in the future.”

Established by the Charity Fund and CUHK in 2022, the scholarship has provided full tuition support to numerous outstanding students enrolled in the programme. It helps alleviate students’ financial burden and enables them to focus on scientific research and professional development while pursuing academic and personal aspirations. The scholarship is renewable annually, based on a performance review, allowing eligible students to receive continuous support throughout their courses.
