Biography of Speaker:

The Rev. Wang Yi is the Senior Pastor of Early Rain Reformed Church in Chengdu, China. Rev. Wang joined the Faculty of Political Science (Department of Law) of Chengdu University. He is a renowned scholar on Chinese Constitution and Christian author. Besides, he was elected one of the 50 most influential public intellectuals in China by Nanfang People Weekly. In 2006, Rev. Wang participated in various seminars and conferences around the world, including the Cross-Strait Public Intellectuals Forum at Soochow University (Dong Wu University) in Taiwan, the International Seminar on China’s Social Transformation and Political Civilization at the University of Technology, Sydney in Australia, as well as the Summit on Religious Freedom in China and the International Seminar on the 40th Anniversary of Great Cultural Revolution in Washington, D.C. and New York City in the United States respectively. In April 2006, Rev. Wang was one of the three Chinese Christian public intellectuals to be invited to meet with George W. Bush, the former US President, at the White House. During the period from March 6th to 9th in 2014, Rev. Wang is invited to be a guest speaker by the Chaplain’s Office, Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong to give a series of talks on the topic of “Christian Faith and Society”.
