Synopsis of Lecture:

Language is a biological instinct possessed by all. We use language in daily communication, and are so accustomed to it that we may not think of it as having any special complexity. In this talk, the speaker will demonstrate that if one looks at language from a naïve perspective, one will discover that language is full of wonders and mysteries. The speaker will illustrate this with examples which students will encounter in their daily life, including films, pop songs, and language use in the public sphere and high school texts.
