Synopsis of Lecture:

Global warming, superstorms wreaking havoc in different countries/ regions, flooding and drafts… these are all common headlines in the news in recent years. In this lecture, the basic processes contributing to climate change are explained. The scientific tools used to study our climate system are introduced. The lecture summarises recent findings on the observed climate trends in the past decades, as well as anticipated changes in the 21st century. Impacts of climate perturbations on the Hong Kong environment will also be discussed.
