Event Details:

Art of CUHK 2019 Phase II will be starting on 7 July 2019. Three exhibitions curated by graduates, and students will be happening at phase II.

The graduates of the Master of Arts in Fine Arts (MAFA) this year will present Nowhere at Gallery I, Art Museum. The theme of the exhibition aims to channel the ideas and concepts of “The Garden of Forking Paths” by Argentine writer and poet Jorge Luis Borges. 14 graduates gathered in “The Garden of Forking Paths” and sought their own scenery in the challenging journey. In stories and artworks, they think and grow with examining self and consciousness, love, human relationships and society. These pieces are a reflection of their experiences over the past two years.

Another joint exhibition, More than Fullness organized by thirteen MAFA Year 1 students, will exhibit their results of learning, involving artists of different backgrounds using different media to exchange their ideas with each other. Please listen to the loud echo through their silent but honest dialogue.

Last but not least, H O M E 4 0 4 will be exhibited on 2/F and 3/F of Wan Chai Joint Publishing. The exhibition is co-organized by the year 1 Master of Fine Arts 2019 students from CUHK and Joint Publishing (H.K.).

Undergoing the era of information abundance, four MFA students took up a challenge in adapting pseudo virtual identities as a springboard to collaborate online. These digital generated collages are records of an attempt to confront the complexity of a virtual world, with a focus of identity-affirming and self-assurance; resistance and indulgence within the proliferation of information and images etc.
