Event Details:

This seminar brings together leading experts in cross border financial and International commercial dispute resolution from the Mediation Institute at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Mediation Council of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. With the Mediation Ordinance now well embedded in law and practice, and with further ADR initiatives developing through the ongoing work of the Steering Group on Mediation and the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association, in particular, this seminar will examine key areas of law and practice that have received noticeably less attention to date among local stakeholders, including the steady growth of cross border mediation in the East Asia region. The speaker’s contributions will examine recent developments in the courts, both domestically and internationally, the ongoing development of professional standards, and pitfalls for the cross border mediator. The seminar will also focus on the growth of mediation in a number of key commercial sectors, including the banking and information technology sectors, and consider the introduction of platforms and schemes for cross border mediation in China. The seminar will be of particular interest to commercial mediators, ADR specialists and in-house counsel. It will also appeal to researchers working in the field of mediation, dispute management and alternative dispute resolution. (1.5 CPD point(s) applied for from the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited)
