Spanning 395 volumes and over 40 million words, The Complete Works of Venerable Master Hsing Yun serves not only as a contemporary encyclopedia of Humanistic Buddhism but also as the most critical archival treasure trove for studying the Master’s literary world.
Opening from the unique perspective of the Editor-in-Chief of The Complete Works, this lecture moves beyond traditional academic theories. Instead, it begins with the most micro-level and frontline practices of compilation, inviting the audience to return to the historical scenes of the Master’s creations and enter his original intent.
Through the processes of collection and collation, the editor was able to traverse time and space, observing the Master’s writing style “at close range”—from his youthful poetry and novels to his oral dictations and essays in his later years. This lecture will share the speaker’s personal experience of closely serving the Master. By examining subtle details in his writing, the lecture reads the breath and compassionate expressions behind the words, opening up a warm and profound new horizon for the study of Humanistic Buddhism literature.
