To promote cultural exchange and academic cooperation between Ningbo and Hong Kong, and to explore new pathways for mutual cultural learning and shared progress between the two cities, the “Ningbo People and Hong Kong” Academic Forum will be held from 9 to 10 October 2026 (Friday to Saturday) over two consecutive days on the CUHK campus. The Forum is jointly organised by the Centre for Social and Political Development Studies of the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (HKIAPS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Center for Ningbo Merchant Studies of Shanghai University, and co-organised by the Ningbo Residents Association, Hong Kong Ningbo Fellowship Association, International Ningbo Merchants Association, Ningbo Hong Kong Fellowship Association, and the Ningbo Research Institute of Culture and History.
This Forum aims to bring together scholars from home and abroad to conduct in-depth discussions on various aspects of the people-to-people and commercial interactions between Ningbo and Hong Kong, their historical and cultural ties, and future cooperation. The Forum will gather renowned scholars, cultural leaders, and experts from Shanghai and Hong Kong to engage in keynote speeches and in-depth dialogues on a range of topics, including government-business relations, socio-economics, business inheritance, and arts and culture.
