Kingsley Ng
Kingsley Ng is an interdisciplinary artist and designer with a focus on conceptual, site-specific and participatory projects. His works have been featured in exhibitions and international venues, such as the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Rome Italy, Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia, Land Art Biennial in Mongolia, Echigo Tsumari Art Triennial in Japan, IRCAM – Centre Pompidou in France, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and Art Basel Hong Kong. Ng has received postgraduate training at Le Fresnoy – National Studio of Contemporary Arts in France, with an MSc Sustainable Design degree from the University of Edinburgh in the UK and a BFA New Media Art degree from the Ryerson University in Canada. He is currently Assistant Professor of the Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Visual Arts.
Tam Wai Ping
Tam Wai Ping graduated from the University of Reading with a B.A. in Fine Art in 1991 and completed his postgraduate study at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College of London in 1995. He currently serves as the director of MAFA programme and an associate professor in the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK. He works in variety of media and is known in particular for his photography, installation and environmental art, and also works as an independent curator.
Poon Kiu Tung
Young Steinway Artist Poon Kiu Tung appeared on concert stages throughout North America, Europe and South Asia. International music festival appearances include Tanglewood and Aspen in the US, Great Wall in Beijing, and Le French May in Hong Kong. As an advocate of new music and a collaborative pianist, she worked with today’s foremost American and Chinese composers on their music and choreographer Mark Morris on the world première of his Excursions with Mark Morris Dance Group.
The fourth episode of the “Arts and Humanities Conversations at CUHK” Series 2020-21 – Beyond boundaries of visual and sound – How four artistic projects extend our understanding of inter-sensory perceptions – organised by the Faculty of Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), will be live streamed on 17 April 2021 at 11:00am via Zoom and the Facebook page of CUHK Faculty of Arts.
In recent years, the line between different artistic disciplines is increasingly blurred. New forms of cultural events and exhibitions – together with the emergence of communication technologies – have provided unique avenues for artists to explore unprecedented ways to broaden their artistic horizons and ways to communicate with audiences by adopting an interdisciplinary approach to their artistic practice. These artistic projects often involve multiple sensory modalities, engaging audiences with smell, touch, sound and visual through complex interactions. The emerging culture of artists employing various interdisciplinary and inter-sensory strategies has raised questions about how rapidly the meaning and function of art are changing. This talk will examine how four artists and researchers from the fields of visual arts, music, performance and curatorship have sought to open possibilities of integrating knowledge and methods from different disciplines to foster audience engagement and inter-sensory experience.

Prof. Isaac Leung, Assistant Professor, BA Programme in Cultural Management
Isaac Leung is a practicing artist, curator, and scholar in art and culture. In 2003, Leung received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In the past 20 years, Leung initiated and participated in various projects. Some of these include 40 Years of Video Art in Germany and Hong Kong (Berlin and HK), Venice Architecture Biennale (Venice and HK), Time Test (Beijing), Both Sides Now (HK, London, and various cities), Loop Barcelona (Barcelona), One World Exposition (HK), China Remixed (Indiana), Clockenflap (HK), and Art Basel Crowdfunding Initiative (HK).
