The senior management of CUHK Hong Kong and Shenzhen Campuses jointly holds a strategic retreat
On 11 August 2026, the senior management strategic retreat between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) was successfully held. Professor John Chai Yat-chiu, Council Chairman of CUHK, Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, and Professor Xu Yangsheng, President of CUHK-Shenzhen, along with over 30 senior management representatives from both campuses, attended the meeting to chart the course for future collaborative development of the two institutions.
The meeting commenced with opening remarks by Professor Chai, Professor Lo, who is also Chairman of the Governing Board of CUHK-Shenzhen, and Professor Xu. Focusing on four main themes of educational cooperation, research synergy, joint brand building and knowledge transfer, the two campuses conducted in-depth exchanges and reached a broad consensus on a series of key issues. Upholding the vision of “One Brand, Two Campuses”, both campuses will proactively align with the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s first forthcoming five-year plan, deepening cooperation across education, research, and other priority areas. Together, they will drive high-quality development of both campuses, to further establish CUHK as a world-class educational brand.
The retreat coincided with the official launch of the new five-year strategic plan, CUHK 2026–2030: Leaping to Greatness. Leveraging the dual-campus advantage, CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen will jointly advance various cross-border collaborative development initiatives, contributing to a collaborative ecosystem for education, research and innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). At this important juncture, the retreat marks a new phase of comprehensive, deep-level and high-quality collaboration between the two campuses.
Towards a shared future, the two campuses will continue to deepen cooperation under the “One Brand, Two Campuses” strategic framework, nurturing outstanding talent with a global perspective for the nation and writing a new chapter for higher education collaboration in the GBA together.
