Professor Chu Ming-chung from the Department of Physics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), spoke on the topic “Beautiful Asymmetries in the Universe” in the fourth lecture of “The Pursuit of Wisdom” Public Lecture Series today (24 May). The lecture drew about 200 CUHK staff members and students, alumni, secondary school students and members of the public. Professor Chu talked about his experiences and achievements in his field of scientific research. He had a fruitful discussion with the moderators and also took questions from the audience.

Professor Chu has been studying the smallest particles in the universe. He is leading a team of Hong Kong scientists working on a large scale international experiment to study the origin and fundamental structure of matter. In the perspective of Professor Chu, there are asymmetries in the universe, but they are as beautiful as perfection. Therefore, he gave a lecture on this topic and explored the universe, together with the audience.
