Synopsis of Lecture:

Co-organizers: Centre for Chinese Archaeology and Art, CUHK; Department of History, CUHK; Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Hunan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology; Shenzhen Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology; Art Exhibitions China The feng bird, also known as the Chinese phoenix, was chosen as our school emblem to represent the University’s dedication to promoting Chinese culture. There are many classical, historical and mythological studies on the phoenix, but none have yet to identify its origin. This exhibition takes you through an ancient world unearthed by archaeologists, retracing the story of a mysterious bird that appeared more than 8,000 years ago.
