Synopsis of Lecture:

Operations Research is a discipline that has its origin in war planning and deals with the application of analytical and computational methods to help make better decisions. Throughout the course of history, Operations Research has played a fundamental role in warfare, economics, and politics. In this talk, we will briefly survey the history of Operations Research and highlight some of its modern applications in business management, public transportation, logistics, and healthcare.
