Synopsis of Lecture:

Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and supported by Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the Food Research Centre has constructed the first Food Composition Database of Hong Kong (http://foodcompdb.fns.cuhk.edu.hk ). In the past 4 and a half years, our Database provides nutritional data on over 1,300 local commonly used food ingredients and products and technical support for the local food industry (especially SMEs) to comply with the requirements of the Labelling Scheme on Nutrition Information.

Its first phase will be completed soon and the "Milestones Achieved, Milestones Ahead–Food Composition Database Reporting and Briefing Session" will be held on June 23rd, 2011 to show our gratitude to the support of all parties.

In the session, we will demonstrate how to use our Database to assist food manufacturers to design healthier products and explain the future development of the Database. We will also briefly introduce our Food Research Centre. Details of the event can be found on our webpage: http://foodcompdb.fns.cuhk.edu.hk .

Food Research Centre and Food Composition Database will continue to provide various services to the food industry.
