Event Details:

This workshop aims to raise awareness about issues relating to and representations of migrant labour and ethnic minorities in cinema. It will feature a panel discussion with 3 paper presentations, on topics ranging from overseas Filipino workers and the African diaspora community in China to Singaporean films whose protagonists are ethnic minorities (Malay and Indian) in the city-state. There will also be two film screenings (Boo Junfeng’s Apprentice and K. Rajagopal’s A Yellow Bird) where the directors will be present for a question-and-answer session afterwards.
