5 Aug, 2020

Established by the joint effort of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Oxford as a non-profit research centre to carry out research, training and community knowledge transfer in the area of disaster and medical humanitarian response in Greater China and the Asia-Pacific Region since April 2011, Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC) has been offering interdisciplinary global field experiential learning opportunities via its Ethnic Minority Health Project to CUHK undergraduate and postgraduate students and alumni.

In recognition of the contribution to higher education via this unique teaching and learning programme, CCOUC Director Prof Emily Ying Yang Chan has been successively awarded the University Education Award from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the UGC Teaching Award from University Grants Committee of Hong Kong, and the National Teaching Achievement Award (Higher Education) from the Ministry of Education of China. The quadrennial National Teaching Achievement Award was officially presented to Prof Chan by the Chief Executive Ms Carrie Lam on 3 July 2020. This award-winning "Evidence-based Interdisciplinary Global Field Experiential Teaching and Learning" experience has also been documented in a CCTV Discovery Channel documentary entitled Safeguarding Life, Protecting Health.

Students and alumni who are interested in joining CCOUC’s field trips during the coming academic year 2020-21 can pay attention to coming announcements at CCOUC’s website (http://ccouc.org).
