Gown Rental


All graduates attending the Congregation must wear the academic gown appropriate to their respective degrees. Please click here for details about the University's academic gown.

Graduates who wish to rent a gown from the University should register online on or before 7 November 2016. Graduates who are not attending the Congregation may also rent a gown from the University.

Collection of Gown

Nov 8-11 & 14, 2016, 2:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Room 206, 2/F, John Fulton Centre, CUHK

When you collect your gown, you are required to present your identity document (such as Hong Kong Identity Card / Student Identity Card / Passport) for verification. An “Academic Gown Rental Form” will be issued when you collect the gown. Please keep the form and present it when you return your gown. 

Please check carefully that you collect the correct hood before you leave the counter. You may refer to the page about academic gown for further details. 

Bring your own Bag
For environmental protection purpose, please bring your own bag to carry the academic dress.

 

Rental Charges
Total HK$1,600 (rental charge HK$150 and deposit HK$1,450)

 

Payment

Log in to the Online Registration System and pay by one of the following methods on or before 7 November 2016:

1. Credit Card (VISA, MasterCard) ; or

2. PPS (You must have an 8-digit PPS Internet Password for payment.)

Special Shuttle Bus for Gown Collection
A special shuttle bus service will be arranged during the gown collection period (8-11 and 14 November) from 6:00 pm. The last bus will leave the MTR University Station at 7:45 pm. Graduates can board the special shuttle bus at the bus stop near the University Piazza (港鐵大學站廣場) (near the campus school bus route no.2). The shuttle bus will run on a circular route between the University Piazza (港鐵大學站廣場) and John Fulton Centre

 

Collection by Authorised Person

If you would like to authorise another person to collect the gown on your behalf, s/he is required to present a photocopy of your identity document and your Gown Rental Authorisation Letter

 

Gown Return

Please present the "Academic Gown Rental Form" when you (or your authorised person) return the gown (no need to provide the authorisation letter).  If the form was lost, you (or your authorised person) are required to present the original or a photocopy of your identity document (such as Hong Kong Identity Card / Student Identity Card / Passport) for verification purposes.

Penalty for Late Return and Damaged Gown

A penalty of HK$80 per working day will be levied on each gown returned on or after 8 December, 2016. Please make the return to Room 206, John Fulton Centre during office hours (Mon-Fri: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm; closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays)

Penalty for damaged gown: Gown: HK$1,000; Hood: HK$200; Cap: HK$250

 

Deposit Refund
The deposit will be refunded to your registered bank account in Hong Kong (not your credit card account for payment) within three months from the date of gown return. For graduates who do not have a bank account in Hong Kong, please complete the "Special Instruction for Gown Rental Deposit Refund (For Graduates without Bank Account in Hong Kong only)" and email to gown@cuhk.edu.hk. Please log in to the online registgration system to check the refund date. If graduates choose bank draft as a refund method, the date showing in the online system will be the submission date to the bank. Graduates are expected to receive the bank draft approximately 2 months after the submission date.
